Brass and Timber – Sounds of Resilience
Beneath the soaring timbers of Danceland, in the shadow of WWII — Big band and swing became the soundtrack of the era, a symbol of joy and resilience amid loss, longing, and the weight of war.
The National Park itself was born of this era. Relief Workers and Prisoners of War carved trails and with their backs and hands — forged architecture and a sense of place that has survived the test of time. Danceland rose within that same spirit, its timbers and energy reflecting both the hardship and the hope of a generation determined to build something lasting.
This October, that legacy lives again. Under the canopy of the forest, the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra will revive the sounds that carried a nation through its darkest hours, while Danceland’s chefs reimagine the era in a culinary journey of foraged flavours and prairie resilience.
More than a concert. More than a dinner. It will be a night where history breathes, where past and present meet, and where the golden age of Clear Lake is brought to light and celebrated once again.
Alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks will be available for purchase.
